To follow up on my recent post about Old Sturbridge Village, here's a short video about one of their winter events, the antique sleigh rally.
Readers who receive our blog via email might see only a rectangle or square where the video ought to be. To watch the video, please click on the title to this post.

I'd love to be there. I once lived n CT but don't think the area was made up into a museum then. Riding in a one or two horse sleigh looks like fun, especially bundled up in fur and with a thick lap robe ( rug) wrapped around one. The horses seem to enjoy it, as well.
I do not think that such a practice was ever customary in England, except, perhaps in some northern counties.
A real Christmas card scene.
I do enjoy your posts even when not in my period.
Fun video! We (Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum in Fairbanks, AK) have an Albany cutter sleigh identical to the one being pulled by the Friesian horse. It's fun to actually see one in action. Thanks for sharing!
Fun! I wanna go!
