Friday Video: After Hours at the Bookstore

Friday, April 13, 2012

Isabella/Susan* reporting:

This delightful video is a true labor of love by the owners and staff of Type Books, a small indie bookstore in Toronto, ON. As the YouTube description says, they "spent many sleepless nights moving, stacking, and animating books," and the results are delightful. Try doing this with an e-book!

At least they say they moved the books.  Who really knows what happens when books are left alone at night?

For more about the making of this video as well as Type Books and a list of all the volunteers who helped create it, here's the link to the YouTube page.

We live just down the highway from this shop so I had to visit after seeing the video a couple of months ago. Lovely place, the music was really loud though...or I'm just getting old.

I agree, nothing like a real book. I do have a Kindle but its more for travel and convenience. I will never give up my beloved books. Farenheit 451 really made an impression on me.

I always wondered what happened after the doors closed! I worked at Waldens for many years and when I opened after having closed the previous evening things were different. The staff swore the store was haunted, but not me. I like to think the books came out to play.
