In Which Loretta & Susan Bid Farewell

Wednesday, December 12, 2018
When we began this blog in June, 2009, our main goal was to amuse one another. We didn't really expect to have much company, but boy, were we wrong!

Turns out there were many, many more fellow history-nerds out there than we'd ever realized. Since that long-ago launch, we've written 2,510 blog posts, which have received nearly seven million page views from all of you. We're delighted that you've chosen to spend that much time with us, and helped to build this little history-loving-corner of the internet.

But even Cinderella's ball ended at midnight, and the clock is chiming on The Two Nerdy History Girls, too. Our other projects (you know, books) are demanding more and more of our time, and there are just so many words to go around. This, then, will be our final new post.

Of course, you can continue to follow us on the blogs connected with our individual websites. Loretta's blog is here. Susan's is here. You can also follow us on our Facebook pages (Loretta is here, and Susan is here.) Susan will be continuing the Two Nerdy History Girls Twitter account under her own name here, and you can find her as well on Instagram here. We'll also be leaving the entire archive of posts live here on this page if you wish to go back and browse.

Au revoir, dear readers. It's been historic.

Loretta & Susan

I wish you ongoing success with your books and writer blogs. Will it be possible to access this blog even when you stop updating. It is an incredible resource with so much historical knowledge and fascinaating links. I can read it over and over again and hope you will leave it for those of us who love it as a favourite place to read and re-read.
Again, best wishes for your future work. Thank you also for what you have given us. A rich exploration of past lives and lifestyles.
I will see how much I can download for my own use, if you permit that. I shall certainly miss you ladies and your wealth of knowledge.

So, so sorry to see the end of your blog. I enjoyed reading the bits and pieces you offered up. A scattering from the past as you touched upon so many subjects. I have always enjoyed historical novels so will have to (finally) read your books instead of your blog. Happy trails.

Breakfast links has always been my favorite Sunday activity. I am heartbroken.
Is it possible for someone else to help with this?

Oh, so sad! I incorrectly assumed that the post title was a reference to a temporary break for the holidays. I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog for several years now. Thank you so much for sharing all this wonderful information with us. Both the in-depth posts and Breakfast Links will be much-missed.

Two Nerdy History Girls is one of the few blogs I actually follow and I'm sad for it to come to an end. I've loved all the interesting tidbits of history and historical fashion. Thank you so much for all the time and research you put into every post over the years. I do hope the blog will remain up at least for the near term. Well darn it, I'll miss you! But I do understand how a thing like this can start out as fun but turn into a distraction and even a burden. Wishing you well going forward.
And - I did not know about the 5th Janet Arnold book. I ordered it. It will be a kind of farewell book from the two of you to me, so thanks!

Dear Girls INerdy History),
As with other readers, for me your Breakfast Links were the nourishing highlight of a Sunday morning (they reached the parts other breakfast products couldn't reach - it's a British allusion - from beer commercials of all things. Just think of the nourishment factor.) I was constantly bowled over by both the range and depth of your research and your free sharing of that research.

I don't read historical novels (or any novels these days: I'm a grumpy old man), but I acknowledge and support your decision to dispense with distractions from the main task: to produce new works.

More power to both (all of) your elbows. It was great to share in the riches you produced. Thank you, and all the best, Ken

Thank you for many hours of reading.
