A few weeks ago, we shared a silly-history video about the Georgian language of fans. This week it seems only fair to go into the garden, and observe the Victorian language of flowers. Since both "languages" come by way of the Horrible Histories, you won't have to brush up on any real language skills - just enjoy!
Thanks! I haven't yet got the 2nd season DVD of Horrible Histories, but it is on my shopping list. Loved the first, but before that had already gathered a ton of clips from YouTube. Found your blog a couple of weeks ago (really like Loretta's books) and now realised you have plenty of videos already selected for viewing. Brill.
(My blog Sukututkijan loppuvuosi is about history, but concentrating on Finland and mainly in Finnish.)
Have now spent far too much time looking at you selections. Have nothing really relevant to add, but you might enjoy Martin Luther -- in 60 Seconds. Not professionally done, but with plenty of energy.
One of us -- Loretta Chase -- writes historical romance. One of us -- Susan Holloway Scott -- writes historical novels, and as Isabella Bradford, wrote historical romances, too.
There’s a big difference in how we use history. But we’re equally nuts about it. To us, the everyday details of life in the past are things to talk about, ponder, make fun of -- much in the way normal people talk about their favorite reality show.
We talk about who’s wearing what and who’s sleeping with whom. We try to sort out rumor or myth from fact. We thought there must be at least three other people out there who think history’s fascinating and fun, too. This blog is for them.
