It's too bad they are letting it go, yet I'm glad we get to see it. I didn't have a clue what that meant. After some digging, K 1/2 translates into size 5 1/2 in America. Knowing that small detail really brings Ms. Austen into sharper focus for me. More so than portraits, IMO.

Thanks for this post.

KathyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5022318990784415929.post-79413942414385481012012-06-20T09:55:49.310-04:002012-06-20T09:55:49.310-04:00The ring is a clue to the estimable Miss Austen...The ring is a clue to the estimable Miss Austen's taste in jewelry, but it can also give us a clue to the size of her hands... add another layer of detail to the imaginary picture.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5022318990784415929.post-27795773119337569892012-06-20T06:53:08.855-04:002012-06-20T06:53:08.855-04:00Wow, imagine the psychic connection while wearing ...Wow, imagine the psychic connection while wearing that ring! For every pound sterling of Englis money, you would need two dollars of American money. That will make the ring go for 60 thousand to 80 thousand dollars in US dollars roughly, or more...Yikes. But still well worth it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5022318990784415929.post-44754389611566187282012-06-20T03:11:44.294-04:002012-06-20T03:11:44.294-04:00Fascinating but sad that it is leaving her family....Fascinating but sad that it is leaving her family.Sandra Brakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10012103425188503628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5022318990784415929.post-42387170800271167012012-06-20T00:07:14.698-04:002012-06-20T00:07:14.698-04:00Beautiful ring!
